MagicGenie Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy explains how MagicGenie, an app developed and published by Capibara LLC, handles information. It applies only to MagicGenie. Our corporate website is covered by the separate Capibara Website Privacy Policy.

MagicGenie is currently in development and is not yet available in the App Store or Google Play. This policy describes the app as it works today. We will update it before public release and whenever the way MagicGenie handles information changes.

No account required

You can use MagicGenie without creating an account and without giving us your name, email address or phone number. MagicGenie does not include sign-in, purchases, subscriptions or advertising.

Information stored on your device

MagicGenie saves your chosen park, your group, your preferences, your ride ratings and the state of your visit (for example, rides already done) in the app's storage on your device, so you do not have to enter them again. The app also creates a random session code on your device.

You can remove this information at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

Information sent to our service

To calculate a recommendation or a day plan, the app sends a request to MagicGenie's service. Depending on what you ask for, the request can include the park and date, your group's heights and labels, your preferences and ride reservations, and — only if you allow it — your current location. This information is used to answer that request.

You do not need to use real names in your group. Labels such as “Adult”, “Child 1” or initials work just as well.

Location

Location is optional. MagicGenie asks for permission only while the app is in use and does not request background location. When you allow it, your position is used to work out where you are in the park and how long it will take to walk to each attraction. You can always choose your area manually instead.

Your coordinates are not saved in our usage records, and MagicGenie does not keep a history of where you have been. When a written explanation is generated, only the general area of the park is included — not your exact position.

Written explanations

Some recommendations and day plans include a short written summary. To produce it, MagicGenie sends the results it has already calculated — attraction names, waits, walking times, the park area and your group's labels and heights — to a language-model service provided by Microsoft Azure. The summary only explains results MagicGenie has already calculated; if the service is unavailable, the app works without it.

Usage events and feedback

To understand which parts of MagicGenie are useful, the app sends a limited, predefined set of usage events — for example, that a recommendation was shown, accepted or passed — together with the park, the attraction, the time and the random session code. These events do not include your location or anything you type.

If you choose to tell us the wait you actually experienced, or to rate an estimate, that feedback is stored with the park, the attraction and the session code and is used to improve future estimates.

The session code lets us see that several events came from the same visit. It is not linked to your name, email address or device advertising identifier.

Trip links from a travel planner

If a travel planner prepared your visit and gave you a MagicGenie trip link, the link identifies that trip. While you use it, progress notes about your day (such as the park area you are in or rides you have completed) can be recorded against the trip so that your planner can help you. If you did not receive a trip link, this does not apply to you.

Park information

Wait times and park information are gathered by our service from publicly available and third-party sources. Your personal information is not sent to those sources. MagicGenie is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any theme-park operator.

Technical information and security

Like any online service, our web servers record basic technical information for each request, such as IP address, device and browser type and the time of the request. We use it to keep the service running and secure. Under our current configuration these server logs are deleted after about two weeks.

Information travels between the app and our service over encrypted HTTPS connections. We limit access to our systems to the people who operate them. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.

Service providers

We use service providers to run MagicGenie: a cloud hosting provider for our servers and Microsoft Azure for the written explanations described above. They process information only to provide their services to us.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Children

MagicGenie is intended to be used by the adult planning a visit, including visits with children. It does not ask for children's names, ages or contact details — only heights, so it can check ride eligibility, and optional labels you choose.

Your choices and requests

You can use MagicGenie without location, change or remove your group and preferences at any time, and clear all on-device data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.

Because MagicGenie does not ask who you are, the records on our servers are not connected to your identity, and we usually cannot find a specific person's records. If you have a question or a request about your information, write to us and we will explain what we can do.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before MagicGenie is publicly released and whenever our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
